SKILLED was established in Melbourne, Australia in 1964 by Frank Hargrave AO. Frank was a young, self-employed electrician with a brilliant idea – to provide Australian industry with a flexible, cost effective approach to their workforce needs.
Frank founded Hargrave and DeMartini in 1964, and in doing so, pioneered the workforce solutions industry in Australia.
The company changed its name to Skilled Engineering in 1966, expanded into Tasmania in 1969 and opened an office in every Australian state over the next 10 years.
After 29 years of organic growth, SKILLED made its first acquisition, the Yallourn Workshop, in 1993.
In 1994 the Company was floated on the Australian Stock Exchange, changing its name to SKILLED Group.
From its blue-collar foundations, the company has grown through further acquisitions and diversifying into key growth sectors. Today, we provide total workforce management solutions across all areas of the economy, from mining, oil and gas, telecommunications and IT, manufacturing, retail, transport and logistics.
